I opened the door to the house and asked PonyBoy is the mail was in yet. He said yeah. So I started looking through the mail and found one letter, that I’ve been waiting for. I looked at it and flipped it over many times, not sure what to make of it. I finally knew. Sandy never did love me, she never did want to marry me. I looked around, un able of what to make of this. I just sat around, lying on the couch was thinking about Sandy. Darry for no reason, freaked out at PonyBoy and told him all whole bunch of stuff that made me want to escape the house, and that’s what I did. I rose from the couch and yelled at both of them, and took off down the street. I wasn't sure where I was going but it was somewhere, any where but home. I saw PonyBoy running towards me, so I turned towards the park, and PonyBoy did a football tackle and we both fell to the ground. Dally caught up and asked me what was the problem. I told them everything, like how I hate how they fight, how they make me pick sides. I didn't want them to fight anymore and they promised not to fight anymore. On the way back home, we raced each other, except it wasn't a race. It was more like Darry was watching us and keeping us close by. Like keeping us under his wing...
